A Sydney couple who gave up their six-figure salary jobs to live a more ‘minimalist' lifestyle have revealed how doing so actually increased their savings.
Miguel and Fayme used to be high-rollers in the corporate industry - earning a combined figure of $250,000 annually.
Yet less than two years ago, they gave it all up and now earn only a third of what they took home before.

Now, Miguel admits he doesn't regret the pay cut or even giving up his luxe sneaker collection.
‘I was on about $150,000-a-year, and Fayme was making around $106,000, so we were earning very good money,' Miguel told [ ‘But we would spend it all, and we still don't know where it was going,' he said.

Living on a combined $81,000 made the couple devise a new budgeting and savings plan.
Doing so has allowed them to save-up more and go travelling more than they could two years ago when they were earning far more.
This year they have travelled to the Philippines, Fiji, as well as Uluru, Tasmania and Western Australia.
'We could never do this stuff two years ago, which is amazing because we were earning so much more,' he said.
Melbourne-based financial adviser Sam Robinson recently spoke to FEMAIL giving tips on how to increase your savings before Christmas.
She first recommended writing down all the money that comes in and out of your bank account each week.

If you need some extra help, she said budget planning apps can be free and a good way to track your spending.
Ms Robinson said a decent spring clean and putting up old clothes on eBay and Gumtree can also help you make some extra cash.
If you have a car and some free time, she said getting behind the wheel and joining ride-sharing apps like Uber and Ola is also a good idea.
